Milwaukee Criminal Defense LawyerLaw Offices of Attorney Wendy A. Patrickus
Wendy A. Patrickus began practicing in 1988 in the area of criminal law. She gained immediate notoriety in 1991-1992 as one of the defense lawyers for the infamous serial killer, Jeffrey Dahmer.
In 1995, Attorney Patrickus opened her own law offices and continued practicing in the area of criminal defense, both in State and Federal courts in Wisconsin. She has placed particular emphasis upon defending OWI cases, (operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated), of all levels. She has fought them vigorously through motion practice to jury trials and from Municipal Courts to the Court of Appeals.
The new laws on OWIs have become complicated. There are many facets of a drunken driving case that your lawyer must be familiar with and must be able to familiarize you with in order to assist you properly for the most advantageous outcome of your case. One of those facets is relative to the Judicial Guidelines for Sentencing that each District in the State of Wisconsin has adopted in an attempt to treat people similarly situated fairly and equally. Unfortunately, that does not always happen despite judicial efforts, thus your lawyer needs to be well acquainted with the law, the guidelines and what is discretionary for the judge in order to reach the goals of your representation. This is where the years of courtroom experience and dedication established by Attorney Wendy Patrickus has demonstrated to be a winning combination.
Drunken driving cases are not Attorney Patrickus’ only area of specialty. Attorney Patrickus also routinely defends complicated drug offenses, sexual offenses, assault & battery, to name a few among the many other crimes.
Additionally, if your matter has already been adjudicated and you are not happy with the outcome, Attorney Patrickus can file an appeal for you whether it is a criminal case or a civil case. If you are one who wishes a review of your case for a potential appeal or post-conviction motion remember certain time lines apply that you must be aware of so your matter does not lose jurisdiction. Those time lines will be explained to you when you write or call for a free consultation.
Don’t lose an opportunity to have your matter reviewed by an experienced attorney and find out if your constitutional rights have been violated or compromised. Remember you have the right to remain silent, exercise it. You have the right to an attorney, ask for one before questioning. You also have your right against warrantless and unreasonable searches and seizures; protect yourself with just one call. These are only a few of the provisions afforded by the constitution in protection of your rights which we are here to assist you with should you feel they have been violated.
Remember if you don’t use them, you will lose them.
